Choosing the right chloride product

Chloride.ca supplies the full range of chloride chemicals Canadian operations actually use — calcium chloride for the deepest cold and fastest melt, magnesium chloride for lower-corrosion de-icing and gravel-road dust control, sodium chloride and rock salt for economical high-volume road work, potassium chloride for low-sodium water softening and food-grade use, and a calcium-and-sodium ice melt blend for all-purpose commercial work. The right choice usually comes down to temperature and surface. Above about −7 °C, economical rock salt clears most events; in deeper cold, calcium chloride keeps melting to roughly −32 °C where salt has stopped. Where corrosion, concrete or vegetation is a concern, magnesium chloride is the gentler option, and for water treatment or food processing the high-purity sodium and potassium grades apply. Every product ships in bulk, liquid, tote and bagged formats with a current Safety Data Sheet, and our team will confirm the grade and format for your spreader, storage and budget.

Most operations buy several of these products rather than one — a rock-salt base for volume, calcium chloride for deep cold and priority surfaces, and dust-control grades in summer.
